Inspired by the pantone color of the year, the “Radiant Orchid”, I have created a new bombshell makeup look for spring. Usually I wear my makeup neutral, but it’s fun to spice up the routine with some drama and strong colors. This tutorial will take you through step-by-step of my entire makeup routine. It takes me no more than 15 minutes to do my makeup, and I try to use as fewer products as possible. Let’s get started!
This is the most important step in my makeup routine. I have dry and oily skin with all kinds of dark spots on my face, and the SmashBox Photo Finish Primer does a great good job lightening the spots and moisturizing the skin. It also gives me a velvety smooth complexion which I love.
I cannot live without concealers. Even though the primer lightens the the dark spots, it doesn’t completely cover them which is why concealers are so awesome. I have been using Michelle Phan’s EM “The Great Cover Up” concealer recently. It’s a bit liquidly but it covers well.
The secret to a flawless complexion is the foundation. I always start with a cream-based or light liquid foundation. In this case, I’m using Maybelline Matte Mousse as the first layer. This inexpensive drugstore product works wonder and gives me that smooth complexion you see in my photos. To give my skin that nice glow and matte finish, I use Smashbox HALO Hydrating Perfecting Powder.
I love a hint of color on my cheeks for this bombshell look. Since I want to draw focus on my lips and eyes, I am applying a light amount of Clinque Cheek Pop on apple of my cheeks.
The bombshell look is all about adding drama to the eyes and lips. Here I’m using RiRi Hearts MAC Eye Shadow palette which has an iridescence finish. To create a subtle smokey look, I first apply the base color on the entire eyelids using a brush. Then using my finger I apply the shadow color from the midpoint of the eyelids to the outer corners. I prefer using my finger to add shadows at it gives me better blending control. To make the eyes pop, I take small amount of the highlighter color and apply it to the inner corners of my eyes.
To finish the eye makeup, I apply eyeliner to the waterline using a pencil, and then line the eyelids with a liquid eyeliner. I’m using Stilla Liquid Eyeliner. It is by far the best liquid eyeliner I have ever used. It goes on smooth and doesn’t smudge at all.
You can’t have a bombshell look without long beautiful lashes. Since my lashes aren’t long and full, I’m using faux eyelashes to achieve the look. If you’re new to wearing eyelashes, they’re actually pretty easy to apply. What I found that works for me is I start gluing from the inner corners of my eyes and work my way outward. As I press on the eyelashes to my lash lines, I also bend the them to fit the shape of my eyes. If you love faux lashes, I am giving away two packs of my favorite eyelashes to two lucky readers! I’m wearing them in this post. Each pack comes with 10 gorgeous, wispy and natural looking lashes. Enter at the end of this post!
My favorite part of this bombshell look are the lips! Ever since my friend introduced me to NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, I have been hooked. It goes on so smoothly and the colors are rich and vibrant. Here I’m wearing the color San Paulo. If you have dried lips, remember to moisturize your lips before applying any kind of lipstick.
