I love beach waves. There is something very untamed and sexy about the beach wave look, and it is actually quite easy to create. While getting ready to go out today, I decided to do quick tutorial on how to create pretty beach waves in 10 minutes flat.

I normally wash my hair in the morning, but I will keep my hair unwashed to give it a slight dry texture perfect for the beach wave look. Since I want to add volume, I will start this tutorial by using Pantene Pro-V Dry Shampoo to remove all the excess oil. I absolutely love this product. It’s such an inexpensive way to quickly clean your hair and give it nice Oooomph!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Dry Shampoo
Curling Iron with 1.5 inch barrel

STEP 1

Part your hair into sections, hold the dry shampoo about 3-4 inches away from the scalp and spray. Each time you spray, use your hands to scrunch and work the dry shampoo into your hair and scalp. As most dry shampoos leave a white residue (this one does), make sure to brush it off. The closer the dry shampoo is to the scalp, the more visible the residue is, so keep a safe distance!

STEP 2

Part your hair into two or three sections using a ponytail holder or anything equivalent. I find it’s faster to curl your hair in layers and the curls hold longer too. Starting with the base layer, section your hair into one-inch sections and curl each section twice. Curl the tip to the middle first and then the middle to the root. Doing this will give your hair equal heat coverage from tip to root.

STEP 3

Repeat the same process in Step 2 with the remaining top sections. This time, however, make sure you hold the curling iron 5 seconds longer when you curl from the middle to root sections. This will give your hair that extra lift and volume at the roots.

STEP 4

And while you may want your hair to have even waves, it’s okay if they are not even. In fact, it looks more natural if they are not all the same size. To add definition and variety to your waves, randomly take some stands and curl it all the way. If you want it extra tight, hold the curling iron longer. If you want it more loose, release it after 2 seconds. Repeat this process until you’re happy with the results.

I love this look, but it’s so hard to attain for me! My hair is blonde and thick and no product seems to make my curls last. Too much product leaves my hair feeling and looking dirty. It’s a hassle…but I’ve never used the Pantene dry shampoo that you mentioned, so I’ll give it a try. Thanks for sharing!
