Happy Friday Beauties! Continuing the spring floral trend we started on Monday, I’m wearing a darling skater dress from Lulu’s. This is the third of four looks from our Spring Style Series. I love that despite being 9 months pregnant, I can still rock a cute regular dress like this. While it’s not a maternity dress, the style is designed to accommodate the bump.
After wearing both maternity and regular sized clothes throughout my pregnancy, I find that certain styles (specifically for dresses) will look great and adapt to your changing shape unless regardless if you’re pregnant or not. Additionally, as I mentioned in the previous post, fabric choices do make a big different. You can never go wrong with breathable and stretchy fabric that has some give.
I have a preference for this style because to me it is by far the most comfortable and flattering. I love the fitted bodice and flowy bottom. What’s great about these dresses is that they can be worn for any occasion, and for spring they are definitely my go-to. One thing you should keep in mind is if you’re choosing a non-stretchy fabric, make sure that bodice will fit you comfortably. Also, because you have a growing bump, the dress will look shorter.
Shift dresses are nice since they have a relaxed and flowy shape. Because they’re not really meant to showcase the bump, I prefer wearing them at or above the knee to highlight the legs. With the medium to high heels, they can look super cute!
Jersey Maxi Dresses
Most regular maxi dresses made of jersey or spandex material will adapt perfectly to your growing bump. If you’re petite, it’s better to purchase them from regular stores because you won’t need to hem the dresses. Your bump will fill out the dress making it shorter!
A wrap dress on a pregnant body is so flattering! I recently wore a maternity wrap dress, and I have never received more compliments. They’re classy and feminine, perfect for a semi to formal event.
Midi Bodycon Dresses
If you’re looking for something fitted that really shows off the bump and curves, a midi bodycon is the perfect choice. One of my favorite maternity dresses is this adorable polka dot midi bodycon.
